My Story and Mission
Welcome to the Break the Loop Foundation, I’m Abhay, a 19 year old with OCD. Unfortunately, I started to struggle with OCD in my freshman year of high school. Intrusive thoughts would swarm my head, deviously warning me that my worst fear would materialize if I didn’t listen to them. In a few months, despite simultaneously undergoing therapy, I became bedridden, unable to walk. I was puzzled why the mainstream treatments weren’t helping me. After two years of fruitless treatments, I fatefully stumbled upon an intensive OCD clinic, where I would spend countless hours daily facing my fears. Thankfully, I recovered soon after due to this therapy. With this nonprofit, I hope to help others gain the same relief as me.
How We Help
- Accountability Network with Successful Peers
- weekly check-ins to facilitate progress
- platform that links OCD sufferers to others who have successfully completed therapy to support them through their recovery
- would pair peers by OCD subtype and severity
- Exposure and Response Prevention was difficult for me to do alone, so I think having someone else who intimately understands the condition while being somewhat knowledgeable about the recovery process would be helpful for those in need
2. Online Intensive OCD Program
- short 1-2 week program where OCD sufferers could access daily guided ERP by therapists or recovered patients
- online to facilitate access
3. Digital Guide to OCD Recovery
- devise a detailed exposure guide for others to use based on my journey, outlining my failures and the things that helped me
- include exposure or goal trackers to log recovery
- implement reminders to motivate patients along their journey
